  4.                                               Setup for Power Macintosh
  5.                                             -------------------------------
  6. Step 1.  Insert the ATLAS OF THE ANCIENT WORLD CD into the CD-ROM drive attached to your Power Macintosh.  The disc window will open displaying the ATLAS OF THE ANCIENT WORLD program icons.

  8. Step 2. ATLAS OF THE ANCIENT WORLD requires QuickTime 3.0 or above.  If QuickTime 3.0 or above is already installed on your computer, proceed to step 4.

  10. Step 3. Double-click on the Install QuickTime icon and follow the instructions that appear on your screen.

  12. Step 4.  Install the ATLAS OF THE ANCIENT WORLD application on your hard drive by double-clicking the Atlas of the Ancient World Installer icon.

  14. Step 5.  To start the program double-click the ATLAS OF THE ANCIENT WORLD icon on your hard drive (located in the ATLAS OF THE ANCIENT WORLD folder).

  16. VIRTUAL MEMORY
  17.  
  18. ATLAS OF THE ANCIENT WORLD requires a minimum of 16 mbytes of free memory  to operate correctly.  Because the program lets you open multiple windows, each additional window you open uses some of the available memory.  If you do not have 16 mbytes of free memory available, or if you want to have more windows open simultaneously, check that Virtual Memory is switched on.

  22. ATLAS OF THE ANCIENT WORLD needs you to specify the Web browser that you will be using to access the ATLAS OF THE ANCIENT WORLD web site.  You can do this at any time by clicking the Internet option located in the Globe (File) menu in the top icon bar.

  24. In the dialog box that appears, click the SELECT button.  Find your preferred browser application, click OPEN, then click OK twice.

  26. If you have not already specified a browser in this way, Atlas of the Ancient World will ask you to specify one the first time click the INTERNET option.

  28. FAQ

  30. On some computers you may experience a problem when playing movies.  This may be related to the system extension 'HP Background'.  If Atlas of the Ancient  World quits unexpectedly while playing a movie, please try removing 'HP Background' from your extensions folder.  This is located in your system folder.  Move the HP Background extension to another folder, such as "Extensions (Disabled)".  Now restart your machine.
